Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Potluck Planner, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service. These terms apply to all users, including hosts and guests.
2. Service Description
Potluck Planner is an event coordination tool that helps hosts organize potluck-style gatherings. Hosts create events, define categories of needed contributions, and share invite links with guests. Guests RSVP, claim dish slots, and manage dietary preferences. The service includes email notifications and optional SMS reminders.
3. Plans and Pricing
Potluck Planner offers the following plans:
- Free — 1 free event per year. Full guest features, email notifications, and dietary tracking included.
- Per-Event — $9 one-time per event. Unlocks SMS notifications, chip-in pools, event templates, and recurring events for a single event.
- Monthly — $14/month. Unlimited events and all paid features.
- Annual — $110/year (~$9.17/month). Same as monthly, billed annually.
Prices are in USD and subject to change with advance notice. Subscriptions are billed in advance and renew automatically until canceled. To cancel, use the billing portal accessible from your account settings.
4. Organizer Credit from Guest Contributions
Guests can chip in or gift money toward a host’s paid features for an event. These contributions become organizer credit on the host’s Potluck Planner account, not a payment to any individual guest. Organizer credit is non-refundable, has no expiration date, and is not redeemable for cash — it can only be applied toward Potluck Planner’s paid features. If a host deletes their account, any remaining organizer credit is forfeited.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose.
- Send unsolicited or spam communications to other users.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts or systems.
- Use the service to collect or harvest other users’ personal data.
- Resell or redistribute the service without authorization.
6. Guest Access
Guests access events via invite links and do not require an account with a password. Guest sessions are authenticated via token-based magic links. You are responsible for keeping your invite link private. We are not liable for unauthorized access resulting from sharing your link.
7. Dietary Information Disclaimer
Potluck Planner provides dietary matching and allergen information as a coordination aid only. We do not guarantee the accuracy of dish information entered by users. Guests with serious food allergies or dietary restrictions should always verify dish ingredients directly with the person preparing the dish. Potluck Planner is not liable for any adverse reactions resulting from reliance on information displayed in the app.
8. Intellectual Property
The Potluck Planner software, design, and content are owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of content you submit (event names, dish descriptions, etc.) and grant us a license to store and display it to operate the service.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, loss of data, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the service. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute shall be resolved in the courts of Arizona.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
